How To Use The Book Reviewers List

April 22, 2015 by Melanie 20 Comments

Please visit the BOOK REVIEWERS DIRECTORY where you can search  for reviewers by genre.

Be sure to read  Asking For Book Reviews before you start asking. Your book MUST match the reviewers guidelines.

AUTHORS AND PUBLISHERS

If you are an Author or Publisher looking for reviews.   CLICK HERE. Check out the category lists.  We have tried to keep the categories as wide open as we can.  If we get enough requests for  a new category we will add it.  Choose one or more genres with the closest match.

For example:

  • IF you would classify your book as Chick Lit  then choose the Womens category.   If your Chick Lit book also has romance, then you might also want to additionally check out the Romance category.
  • IF your book is a dystopian thriller  first check out the Action, Adventure, Thriller category.  Then take a peek at the Science Fiction category.

How to Request a Review:

Send a polite note asking if the reviewer would be interested in reading your book.

  1. Include a SHORT synopsis.
  2. Include main book category.
  3. Include page count.
  4. Let the reviewer know what formats you have available (including PDF, mobi, Print, Amazon gift certificate, etc).
  5. IF appropriate (especially for non-fiction books) a brief bio or significant highlights.

If you get a request for a review copy, send it.  Don’t ask the reviewer “When?”.

If you don’t get a reply, check it off on your list and go on the the next listing.

Before you contact a reviewer:

On the Internet things can change in a nanosecond.  Please go to the websites you are interested in and check to see if they have done any reviews in the past two months and read their review guidelines FIRST.   Let us know if you find any significant changes. Click Here.

Out of Commission:

Why do we list out of commission websites?  On the Internet change happens fast. Reviewers get overwhelmed, life happens.  Rather than spending hours trying to figure out if a site is dead or not, the Out of Commission warning gives you a quick heads-up.

There are two sub-categories:

Permanent means the site has disappeared OR there is a notice that they are NO longer accepting submissions OR the site has not been updated for over six months.

Temporary means there is some kind of statement on the site that they are No longer accepting submissions for the short term.  A few of the reviewers have contacted us and asked us to put them on hold for a few months.   If we see that a site has been on hold and not updated for over SIX months we will change their status to Permanent.  You can help by sending us a note in the comments section.

INTERVIEWS:

We noticed that a lot of the book review websites also do Author Interviews … so we created a category just for that.   Just pay attention to the which book genres the reviewer prefers before asking for an interview.

PAID REVIEWS:

Most of the reviewers do FREE reviews and state that policy very clearly.  A very few of the reviewers listed are now asking for payment.  We state that information in the Summary section of the listing.   If you come across a reviewer who is now asking for payment … please let us know HERE.

REVIEWERS

If you are a REVIEWER go here and click on Submit a Listing.  You will be asked to choose genres first.  You can choose more than one genre by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on the genres you prefer to review.  In the second panel you will get to add all the details and provide links to your Submissions or Review Guidelines.

Thanks for all the work putting this together. I for one, will be even happier when you have a search box. I am hoping that I will be able to search for MYSTERY and get a list of reviewers who read mysteries?

I write cookbooks, and it can be hard getting reviews on digital cookbooks. However I sent my information to a short list of reviewers and one of them is currently looking at my Chutney and Relishes Book.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

Great list. This and hugeorange.com are my go-to when launching a book and trying to get reviews. Wish more sites would offer free reviews. Such a struggle to find good readers interested. If they only knew how much we valued it!

this accident didn’t took place in advance! I bookmarked it.
